The Story of dmx3377

Before 2022-ish, I used to go online by the handle d4vidthedev. While it served its purpose early on, over time it just started feeling a bit plain and "boring." Wanting a cleaner change, I sat up on my bed at midnight one night and arbitrarily pieced together a new username: dm3377.

Which naturally leaves one obvious question... Where on earth did the 'x' come from?

The explanation is entirely accidental. While attempting to change my handle on a platform, I hit the 'x' key by mistake right before saving. I didn't catch the error until the page updated, locking the handle behind a strict six-month cool-down limitation. Rather than fighting it, I embraced the typo and normalized the 'x' across the rest of my digital footprint.

Breaking Down the Legacy Handle

So what exactly did the sequence mean? It's much simpler than it looks:

The 3377 component was carried over from an old Roblox account (DavidTDC3377). I still couldn't tell you what the "TDC" stood for - it was just a random string of keystrokes from years ago I'm guessing..

Eventually, a few friends and I agreed that the legacy handle felt artificial and lacked a real personal grounding. It was time for an identity change that felt right.

So, what is davm?

My new handle strips out the arbitrary fillers and maps directly to my actual identity:

It stands cleanly on its own, and sounds better than working with dama, davidm, or davma or something... Also the domain was cheap, but we don't talk about that.

And that is the brief, somewhat chaotic history behind the shift to my current home.
